The Samal Island City College Virtual Library

The Samal Island City College (SICC) Virtual Library is an online library service of the SICC Library and Information Center designed to provide students, faculty, and staff with convenient access to academic and research resources beyond the physical library. It forms part of the SICC eLibrary, which supports teaching, learning, research, and lifelong learning through digital information resources.

The Virtual Library serves as a digital extension of the SICC Library and Information Center, helping ensure that reliable information and learning resources are accessible to the academic community anytime and from different locations.    

Online Databases and Digital Learning Resources
Below are links to various online databases, open educational resources, research tools, e-books, e-journals, and other digital learning materials provided through the Samal Island City College Virtual Library. Users may browse and access the resources relevant to their academic needs, particularly those supporting the College’s programs in Agribusiness, Criminology, Entrepreneurship, Public Administration, and Tourism Management.

Simply click on the resource of your choice to access relevant information for your studies, research, teaching, and other academic activities. These resources are intended to support the SICC academic community in finding reliable and relevant information beyond the physical library collection.

Online Research Zone (ORZ) Services

        The SICC Library and Information Center provides facilities for information and communication technology and services for the efficient and convenient retrieval and dissemination of local and remote information resources to its clientele. The facilities include computer desktops with Internet connectivity, printers, and scanner. 

        The library and information center has a dedicated webpage created to promote and access library resources in an electronic library (e-Lib) named SICC eLibrary with the URL:  https://siccelib.blogspot.com/.  Continuous access to electronic resources, such as online databases, e-books, e-journals, and other open and free e-learning resources to allow faculty members and students to undertake research and other academic activities.


Guidelines (Proposed): 
  • The computer user must sign in to the ORZ Logbook.
  • The user/student is given at least one hour to use the computer per day on a first come first serve basis but can extend to another hour if there are no other users on the line.
  • Flash media or USB of users must be scanned by the ORZ In-charge before using.
  • Photocopying, printing, and scanning services are free up to 10 pages only per user but bring your own book/bond paper. Ask the assistance of library personnel for these services.
  • Installing unauthorized programs and other similar acts on computers are prohibited. 
  • The Library Management reserves the right to regularly delete files from the system and hard drives in the ORZ every end of the semester, or in case of exigency.
  • The users are prohibited from unauthorized uses/activities which include but are not limited to the following:      
    • Computer games
    • Obscene/pornographic materials
    • Computer viruses or any  form of intentionally destructive programs
    • Modifying or destructing of library hardware, software, or data including the display and desktop configurations; 
  • Any problem encountered at the computer workstations must be reported immediately to the ORZ In-charge or Librarians.
  • Violation of any of the rules and regulations will be recommended for sanctions appropriate for serious offenses. Violations of the rules shall be meted the following
    • First offense - Oral warning
    • Second offense - Written warning
    • Third offense - Endorse to the OSSD for appropriate action/sanction.
  • Cleanliness must be maintained.
  • Silence should be observed in the ORZ.
