LIBRARY SERVICES
The SICC Library provides a range of services designed to
support teaching, learning, research, and the information needs of the College
community.
A. Lending and Circulation Services
· Lending and returning
library materials to authorized users
· Registration and
management of borrower accounts
· Monitoring of borrowed,
returned, overdue, and reserved materials
· Assistance in locating and
retrieving library resources
B. Library Use and Research Assistance
· Assistance in the use of
library facilities, collections, equipment, and services
· Guidance in locating and
using print and electronic information resources
· Assistance in the use of
library search and retrieval tools
C. Reference and Information Services
· Provision of factual and
bibliographic information
· Assistance in locating
appropriate information sources
· Referral and guidance in
the use of relevant print and electronic resources
· Assistance with general
research and information inquiries
D. User Orientation and Instruction
· Library orientation for
new students, faculty members, and other authorized users
· Orientation on library
policies, facilities, services, collections, and resources

E. Information Technology (IT)-Related Services
The library provides
technology-enabled services that facilitate access to and retrieval of
information resources, including:
· Online Public Access
Catalog (OPAC) – Provides users with access to the library’s
bibliographic records and facilitates the identification and location of
library materials.
· Computerized Circulation
Service –
Supports the electronic recording and management of the borrowing and return of
library materials.
· Library Website/Webpage – Provides access to
library information, announcements, services, electronic resources, research
tools, and other online resources.
· Access to Electronic
Publications – Provides access to available e-books, e-journals, online
databases, open educational resources, and other electronic publications.
· Virtual Reference Services – Provides online
reference assistance to users who need information or research support
remotely.

F. Literature Search and Subject Bibliography Services
· Assistance in identifying
relevant books, journal articles, e-books, e-journals, databases, and other
scholarly information resources
· Conducting literature
searches based on users' specific research topics or information needs

compilation of subject bibliographies to support academic and research
activities
G. Reprographic, Printing, and Scanning Services
· Photocopying and
reproduction of selected library materials, subject to applicable copyright
provisions
· Printing of academic and
research-related documents
· Scanning of selected
materials and documents for legitimate academic, research, and administrative
purposes
H. Current Awareness Services (CAS)
The Library provides
current awareness services to keep users informed of newly available resources,
library activities, and relevant developments.
These services include:
· Accession List – A list of newly
acquired books and other materials added to the Library collection.
· Title Announcement Service – Announcements of newly
acquired titles and other relevant library resources made available to users.
PHYSICAL FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
The SICC Library provides
functional spaces and facilities designed to support individual study,
collaborative learning, research, information access, and other academic
activities.
A. Library Areas and Facilities
· Reserved and Circulation
Area –
Provides access to reserved materials and facilitates the borrowing and return
of library resources.
· Stack Books Area – Houses the Library's
general collection, systematically arranged and classified for convenient
access and retrieval.
· Periodicals Area – Provides access to
current and back issues of journals, magazines, newspapers, and other serial
publications.
· Leisure Reading/Fiction
Area –
Provides recreational and leisure reading materials, including fiction and
other general-interest resources.
· Filipiniana and Native
Materials Collection Area – Houses materials relating to the Philippines, Filipino
culture, history, literature, society, and other local or indigenous subjects.
· Conference Room – Provides a space for
small-group meetings, academic discussions, presentations, research activities,
and collaborative work.
· Discussion Room/Faculty
Online Classroom – Provides a dedicated space for group discussions,
collaborative learning, online classes, and other academic activities.
· Online Research Zone (ORZ) – Provides computer
workstations and Internet access to support online research, information
retrieval, and other academic activities.
· Mini Audio-Visual (AV)
Room –
Provides audio-visual equipment and facilities to support instruction,
presentations, training, and other academic activities.
· Reading Area – Provides a quiet and
comfortable space for individual reading, study, and research.
· Study Room – Provides a designated
space for focused individual or small-group study, subject to applicable
library policies.
· Entrance and Barcode
Log-In Area – Serves as the main access point to the Library and
provides facilities for user identification, entry monitoring, and
barcode-based log-in.
B. Library Equipment
The library is equipped
with appropriate technologies and equipment to support its services and the
academic needs of its users, including:

related circulation equipment
