The initiative, led by the Library Services Unit and the Office of the Dean of College under Dr. Sandra Lyn Q. Quiรฑones, with the support of the Acting College Administrator, Dr. Jennifer C. Gonzaga, is intended for the college’s faculty, highlighting the institution’s continuing commitment to improving the quality of its library resources and supporting academic excellence.
According to Dr. Quiรฑones, the primary objective of the in-house book fair is to update and enrich the college’s library collection, particularly with materials directly aligned with the subjects taught by the instructors. Furthermore, this ensures that students and instructors have access to relevant, reliable, and scholarly resources that enhance the institution's teaching and learning.
Moreover, a significant factor driving the activity is compliance with the standards set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Dr. Quiรฑones emphasized that library materials must be updated within a five-year copyright range, as outdated resources may affect institutional evaluation. Through the book fair, faculty members are encouraged to select books that not only meet these standards but also support updating course syllabi with current, applicable references.
This year’s book fair featured five exhibitors, including long-time partners ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ซ ๐—•๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ, ๐—–&๐—˜ ๐—ฃ๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด, ๐—œ๐—ป๐—ฐ., and ๐—ก๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜€ ๐—ข๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€, as well as new participants such as ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ง๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—น๐˜€, ๐—œ๐—ป๐—ฐ., and ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐—–๐—ผ., ๐—œ๐—ป๐—ฐ. Compared to previous fairs, which mostly featured foreign publications, the current selection showcased a growing number of locally published books by Filipinos. These materials are not only more affordable but also more contextually relevant to Philippine education.
The 4th SICC Library Book Fair shows the college’s proactive efforts to strengthen its academic foundation by updating library resources and sourcing materials that support research, instruction, and student learning.

The College Library Section, headed by Dr. Sandra Lyn Quiรฑones, conducted a Live Book Selection activity last January 27, 2025, to enhance the general education collection by involving faculty in the book acquisition process. Teaching personnel visited the library and reviewed a curated selection of titles from various publishers and distributors, assessing their relevance, quality, and alignment with the college curriculum.
This interactive approach fostered collaboration between the faculty and library, ensuring that the chosen books effectively support student learning and academic development.

First Book Fair in SICC, 2022

Our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Al Uy and to the OIC College President, Dr. Tata Fuertes for supporting the Book Fair 2022 held at the SICC Auditorium last June 13-15, 2022. To the SICC Administration, program heads, faculty (both part-time and full-time), staff, and students, thank you for joining us for the live book selection during the book fair. It was indeed a success. We have selected various titles for different courses, especially in criminology which we really need this time for our application to the said program to CHED XI.

Some program heads and librarians from Jose Maria College also came to select books for their college library. Once again, salamuch to all!
