The Gender and Development (GAD) Corner is a special section of the library that promotes awareness, education, and advocacy on gender equality, women's empowerment, and inclusive development. It supports the national Gender and Development program and aligns with institutional efforts to create a more just, inclusive, and respectful society for all, regardless of gender identity or expression.
This collection provides access to a variety of resources, including books, journals, research studies, government publications, brochures, multimedia materials, and other information on topics such as:
- Gender equality and equity
- Women's rights and history
- Gender-based violence prevention
- LGBTQ+ issues
- Gender in education, the workplace, and leadership
- Sustainable and inclusive development
The GAD Corner is open to all library users—students, faculty, and staff—who wish to explore, learn, and engage in discussions about gender and development issues.
Circulation Services, Policies, and Procedures for the GAD Collection
To ensure fair and timely access to
GAD resources, the following circulation policies and services are in place:
Check-In and Check-Out:
GAD materials available for loan may
be borrowed and returned at the Circulation/Reserved Desk using the SICC
Follett Destiny Library Manager System (DLM system). Library users must present
a valid ID when borrowing materials.
Most GAD books and resources follow the library’s standard loan period for general circulation materials. Some items may be limited to in-library use only, especially rare or reference-type materials.
Library staff can assist users in locating GAD resources and searching for items that may be missing from the shelves and are always available at the Circulation/Reserved Desk to provide respectful, inclusive, and helpful service to all users, regardless of gender identity.
The GAD Corner is designed to be a safe and welcoming space. Users are encouraged to respect others in the area, keep noise to a minimum, and handle materials with care.
